Teaching_300_700_grad Vocal, Piano and Musicianship Studio

Students of Bethany Hӧrst study a variety of repertoire bridging art song, opera, musical theatre and jazz.  Students have appeared in productions by Mirvish, Stratford, Drayton and many other professional theatres.  Students regularly compete in NATS, Kiwanis, Music Marathon, NYCO and other opera competitions, as well as many local festivals.  Hӧrst teaches Royal Conservatory literature and methods and encourages classical singers to acquire certificates through examinations.  Several students have completed their ARCT level exams and have gone on to prestigious programmes in music including Glenn Gould, the University of Toronto, the University of Western Ontario, McGill University and many others.

Regardless of their instrument of choice, students benefit from lessons in theory, musicianship, ear training, pedagogy, music history, multiple foreign language diction, performance practice and acting.  Many vocal students choose to foster their musical learning through additional keyboard lessons for self-accompanying.

In addition to the private studio, Hӧrst is a regular lecturer and teacher at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate, Eastwood Collegiate and adjudicates throughout Ontario. Hӧrst is also a member of the vocal faculty at the University of Western Ontario.

Hӧrst holds a Masters in Literature and Performance (Opera) from the University of Western Ontario.  She is a member of the Canadian Actors Equity Association and the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

The studio is often running at capacity.  Please email soprano@bethanyhorst.com
